Prostitution – Does it form a contract and can they sue you or vice versa?

Each time when we attend Contract class, Dennis, the lecturer likes to use FUNNY and Weird examples. The most common one which we use as an example every week will be prostitutes. In each class, without a miss, there will always be something about prostitutes.

We were just discussing whether sleeping or making a promise with prostitutes, is it legal or illegal?

If you promise to pay the prostitutes £10 and you didn’t pay her after she sleeps with you, can she sue you? The answer is…No, she can’t because prostitution is immoral in the UK and is consider illegal so the court will not take on this case.

So next time if anyone were to visit any prostitutes, you can offer her anything you like from house to diamond to Ferrari and you won’t be sue.

Please bear in mind that this does not apply in country whereby prostitution is legalized such as Thailand. In Thai, prostitutes are a legal job so I guess that they could sue you in court.

Travel purpose

In Amsterdam, one of the tourist attraction is the Red Light District. This also means that prostitution is also legal in Holland. Those who went for Europe trip can give further information. I can't give any information because i have not visit to Holland yet. Wait till I tour in Holland....

Things that happened

Class started at 10am as usual. For the past two weeks, I didn’t have to attend Jim’s class at 10 because he was in India.

We talked about the social party this Saturday. My Cyprus friends will be cooking kebab. I thought of cooking some Chinese food. Sean requested for fried rice and must be extra spicy and hot. There will be loads of alcoholic drinks.

I just realize that I am the youngest in the class. Sean asked me how old am I. So I said will be 22 in 10 days time. “What!!You are only 22? You are the baby in the class.” The oldest in the class is in his forties with kids. In the UK, if you want your friends to organize birthday party for you, you would need to reveal your age.

My topic for my dissertation is approved. Topic ”Emergent of Corporate Governance”. Sound cool and interesting, right?

More assignment deadlines to come. Four essays will need to be handed up in the last week of January. It means I can’t fly back to Malaysia to celebrate CNY.

Change of presentation date. I was supposed to do a presentation next week but it postponed to 20^th of November but I still have to do another presentation on 6^th for Contract.

I asked my course leader, Jim whether we have anything important in March or not. I told him that I want to go back to Malaysia to attend convocation. He says that it is fine to go back and will keep a copy of notes for me. So it means that I am officially going back to attend convocation on March 15.

It was super dark when my class ended at 6.30pm. It is like 10pm at night. I walked home alone and it was freaking cold. Luckily I remembered to take my gloves and scarf out with me today if not I will be freezing.

This is the first time I didn’t cook dinner on Thursday. I was too lazy to cook and have no idea what to cook. So I decided to eat instant noodles. To make it healthier, I decided to add in some cabbage. On my way to kitchen, my housemate said that he will be getting some fish and chips. So I decided to eat fish and chips instead of instant noodles. It cost me 1.90 quid with baked beans. Yummy.

It’s Halloween night today. I won’t be going for any trick or treat. Just want to stay in my room, watch dramas and most importantly AT LEAST WRITE SOMETHING FOR THE ASSIGNMENTS!!!!

TRIP trip TriP

Excited not because I got my passport back or I found some money or I am falling in love. HahHa. I am starting to get crazy because I am extremely excited.

My dad has arranged for me to meet up with his client cum friend who will be coming to UK tomorrow. I thought I was just supposed to meet her up at Manchester to collect some of my personal belongings that my mum wanted to give it.

So I thought immediately after collecting my stuff from her then I will get back to Sheffield on the same day.

Dad: “I thought that you will be staying with Mdm Leong? She has arranged some stuff for you.”

PS: “Oh really. I want to buy a return train ticket between Manchester and Sheffield”.

Dad: “She has rent a car to go some places with you. So you will be travelling with her. Don’t worry about the bills, I would ask her for the bill when she is back to KL”.

(I was like…this is so cool.)

So I asked “Where will we be going?”

Dad: “Manchester to Bristol to North Kent to London. So you can get back from London”

PS: “Oh Okie...” (Not sure what response to give as I was extremely excited)

I was like.. fantastic and brilliant. Since I was here 4 months ago, I have never tried of going so many places in a week. I will be away from 7^th November till 14 November. I am not sure where will I be on my birthday. It will be a wonderful birthday for me. I thought of staying for a few more days in London but I had to get back to Sheffield because I need get my 2500 words of essay done.

Alex, I think we need to postpone my birthday dinner at TGI.

Pa, thanks for everything. Thanks for arranging for me to meet up with Mdm Leong. I know that you don’t want me to feel lonely. Thanks, pa.

Something different today

Student Rep of LLM Corporate Law and Strategy

Today I attended the Student Representative training organized by the Hallam Union. It was a short one. We were brief about the duty of the student rep, where we can get help and how to solve some student problems.

It is similar as becoming a course rep in TARC but it is more organized over here. We were given a bag each with a calendar and manual on Student Rep. During the training, we were asked to look at some case studies.

I couldn’t remember all the question but these are some of them:

· One girl said she got harassed by another student. She wants this to be brought up during the course committee meeting. What would you do or how you will handle this matter?

· There is a student who complains that the classroom is too cold in the afternoon and is too small to fit in everyone. What should you do?

Then they briefed us about Hallam Award which is very useful and can be use as a tool to beautify the resume. During the graduation, when they give out the Master Cert they will mention about the student involvement in Uni. I want that Hallam Award.

To me, this is a very good opportunity for me to meet up with other people and expose myself to the culture here. This is a good chance for me to improve my leadership skills. I won’t feel bored anymore.

Next aim is to be involved in the Faculty Rep. I want to be part of it. The Faculty Rep title seems nice and classy. Hahaha.
