Food Food FOOD and Fooodddd
I have decided to share something different today. For the past few days, I have been craving for Chinese, Malay and Indian food. This is because I have been having pasta and chips for the past few days. So since I can’t eat those delicacies, I shall share some of the places that you can go for good food. Remember to think of me when you eat.
Duck Rice
Restaurant Sunrise, Taman Paramount
It opens as early at 11.30am. Closed on Monday.
If you want to go on weekends, please be prepared to wait for tables. Sometimes you have to share tables with others. You will realize that the person who chops the duck and serves the dishes are all women.
The duck meat is simply delicious. The crispy skin…Awww…so crunchy and the meat does not have the weird smell. The soup is pretty good too. They only sell ducks and steam vegetables. No char siew or Siew yuk.
Hokkien Mee and Lor Mee and Fried Lala
I am not sure what the name of the restaurant is but it is located right behind Tawakal Hospital at Jalan Pekeliling. It only opens during the night time maybe from 6 evening. They use charcoal to cook the dishes.
It is delicious especially the Lor Mee with loads of vinegar. The hokkien mee goes well if you ask them to crack a raw egg on top on it once it is served on the place. It makes the noodle more wangi especially with the pork lard(chu yau cha). When I go there with my family, we seldom order the lala but if you observed this lala thingy is served at almost all the table.
Char Koay teow (CKT)
It is a kedai kopi in Jalan kelang lama 4th mile. It is a corner lot shop. It is a family run business. The place is small but the char koay teow is delicious. I have been eating this stall since I was about 6 years old. So imagine how nice the CKT is. I will usually top my CKT with a telur goreng.
There are no prawns in it but it usually comes with cockles, taugeh, egg, char siew and fish ball and sometimes choy sam. Even those who drive big car, big boss and staffs wearing tie and high heel, eat there too.
Yong Tau Foo
Madras Lane Yong Tau Foo. Closed on Monday.
It is located inside the petaling street (chee cheong kai) market. One piece cost 90 or 80 cents but it is worth it as the fish paste is really delicious. One thing I like this one compare to the rest because they put a generous amount fillings into the brinjals, bittergourd, taufoo, fuchuk etc.
Some YTF fillings are as thin as a piece of paper but this Madras Lane is totally different. When you have the yong tau foo, remember to order the chee cheong fan. There are a few stalls but the lady who is selling it is nicer.
Nasi Lemak
Nasi lemak Antarabangsa is located at Kampung Baru. Some of you might have heard of it. It is a must try stall. It opens during the night till mid night. The sotong is crunchy which is cooked with sambal and kacang. You can see the biji biji kacang.
If you take beef, then you try the beef rending. The Chicken rendang is good too. I like the sambal the most. If you don’t like the nasi, you can try the meehun goreng. It goes well with the side dishes too. They don’t put kacang in the nasi lemak. I don’t know why but maybe you could ask them. There this thing called paru (the cow’s lung) looks delicious. I have never tried it before but my dad said is good.
I prefer to have bungkus nasi lemak because when you open it…Ish….the smell…..
Pork Ball Mee
Though I don’t fancy eating pork but I will excuse myself just because of this stall. It is a corner lot shop. Located at Jalan Imbi. I do not know how to describe the deliciousness of the mee but it is brilliant. The pork ball and minced meat is good. One small bowl cost RM5 and Big is RM6. The bowl of mee is good and there are about 8 pork balls. If you go on Sundays, you might have trouble looking for seats or you might have to share. There are a few stalls selling other food but none of it can actually affect this stall’s business.
In this same coffee shop, there is this stall which sells siew pau and other delicacies. If you are big fan of pineapple tart and “ham tan” tart (duck egg York), then you should give it a try.
Char Siew
It is located at Jalan Tung Sin behind the Magnum Plaza. It opens at about 11 in the morning till the char siew are sold off. The main problem there is those jaga boys and it is not easy to get parking. The char siew is barbecued with charcoal and not those gas stove.
It is a bit pricey but it is worth to give it a try. Besides char siew, there are also side dishes such as vegetables. They also sell steam chicken. Try not to go there during lunch hour, because it will be very packed. There is something special about the char siew but not sure what. It must be the secret recipe for the marinating sauce.
ABC and Cendol and goreng pisang
It is a stall located just outside the 7-11 in brickfields. Just right beside YMCA. The ABC and cendol is very famous in that area and especially sunny days. The price is normal means not expensive. You can have your ais kacang with the coconut flesh. It usually runs out of those ABC ingredients by 4 evening. If no luck, just tapau the coconut water or cincau drink.
Opposite that ais kacang stall, there is this stall selling pisang goreng, fried nin kou and keledek goreng. It is operated by a Chinese who are father and son. Sometimes you have to wait about ten to fifteen minutes. Or you can call to make order then you can collect it at a specific time. Good marketing strategy.
That’s all for now because my saliva is dripping and hope you will enjoy the food. Let me know if you try the above food and tell me whether you like it or not. I just realize that all the above foods are all high cholesterol.
Love
